Botswana have suffered a major blow ahead of the 2014 World Cup qualifier against South Africa in Gaborone after Mogogi Gabonamong withdrew from the team.
Gabonamong, a long-time servant of The Zebras, cited family problems as the reason behind his decision to opt out of the match.
The SuperSport United midfielder has since written a letter to the Botswana Football Association explaining his decision.
“We have agreed that I will not be available for the game because I have to attend to family problems,” he told BBC Sport.
There have been reports in Botswana suggesting that the former Santos midfielder’s decision to turn down the call-up was down to a money dispute involving the players and association since the country, but Gabonamong would not elaborate.
“I don't want to talk about other issues. I will be there for future games, definitely,” he added.
