The Chinese outfit's new manager claims that the club is working hard to secure the services of the Ivorian, who is leaving Chelsea following their Champions League triumph
The Ivorian striker scored the winning penalty against Bayern Munich in the Champions League final just days before announcing that he did not wish to renew his contract at Stamford Bridge.
The Chinese outfit have been strongly linked with the forward and are said to be keen to reunite him with former Chelsea team-mate Nicolas Anelka, who joined the club in January.
However, speculation has surfaced intimating that the 34-year-old frontman could reject a move to China in order to link up with former manager Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid.
But, following his unveiling as Shanghai Shenhua's new manager, former Argentina coach Batista has insisted that his side are still in the running.
"The people from the club do the best things to get Drogba here," he told reporters.
"I think every coach in the world wants to get Drogba on the team and I hope that everything is OK."
