The club have confirmed that the nine-hour operation was a success, and now Maxwell, who competed with Abidal for the left-back position before moving to Parc des Princes in January, has now pledged to visit his former team-mate in Barcelona.
"I called his doctors in Barcelona to find out the news. They told me that everything went well, but it was necessary to wait some more," he told RMC.
"We are very close, and I will visit him in Barcelona very soon."
Maxwell has made 10 appearances for the Parisian club since moving from Camp Nou in the winter transfer window.
