Allofs: Bremen don't need another striker, we have Elia

Markus Rosenberg is set to follow Claudio Pizarro out of the Weserstadion exit door, but the club's sporting director believe that they are well-stocked in the forward department
Werder Bremen sporting director Klaus Allofs insists that the club do not need to sign another striker before the start of the new season, arguing that Eljero Elia can easily act as an auxiliary forward if needs be.

With Markus Rosenberg set to follow Claudio Pizarro out the exit door at the Weserstadion, Die Werderaner appear in need of reinforcements up front. However, Allofs does not see it that way.

"For me, Elia is also a striker," the Bremen chief told Bild. "It may be that we do something in that area, but we don't need to.

"The fact that it can be always discussed is clear. But we believe we are well stocked for the new season."

Former Hamburg man Elia is returning to Germany after an unhappy spell in Italy with Juventus in which he managed just four appearances in Serie A.
