The Croatia international has moved to the Allianz Arena from Wolfsburg after an impressive Euro 2012 campaign, in which he scored three goals, and is glad to have made the switch.
"The first steps on Bavarian soil feel good. It is great to be here,” the 26-year-old confessed to Bild.
Die Roten sporting director Christian Nerlinger has stated that the new signing will be judged by his showings on the pitch for Jupp Heynckes’ men.
“It's not about names and transfer fees, only performance and quality," he stated to the daily newspaper.
"I am convinced that Mario is raring to go and totally focused on his new challenge at Bayern. His qualities were clear at the European Championships and they will be put to the test in the Bundesliga. We expect a lot from him."
Mandzukic will provide competition for places with namesake Mario Gomez in attack, and replaces outgoing countryman Ivica Olic.
