Hummels: If we beat Bayern we will not let the title slip away

A 3-1 win over Wolfsburg on Saturday got the champions back to winning ways, and the Germany international is eager to deal out a decisive blow to the Bavarians in midweek
Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels has stated that if his side beat Bayern Munich on Wednesday, the champions will not let the Bundesliga title slip away.

BVB defeated Wolfsburg 3-1 on Saturday to maintain their three-point advantage over Jupp Heynckes' men, with the top two meeting in midweek.

The Germany international centre-half is looking to strike a decisive blow to Dortmund’s closest rivals.

"If we win, I do not think they can take the title from us," he told Bild.

"If we lose, we are tied. A preliminary decision [on the eventual winners] is thus ready to fall in our favour."

Dortmund head coach Jurgen Klopp added that he wants the game to be a spectacle for the home team’s fans.

"The three points are there to pick up, which is what we want. In any case, we want to offer the 80,000 fans a spectacle," he stated.

Hummels has been a key member of the Dortmund team this season, making 29 Bundesliga appearances so far.
