Schweinsteiger to miss Hannover clash

The influential midfielder is still struggling to overcome an ankle injury, and will not be match fit in time for Bayern's home game against Mirko Slomka's side on Saturday
Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes will remain without injured midfield talisman Bastian Schweinsteiger for Saturday's Bundesliga match at home against Hannover, Bild reports.

The 27-year-old tore his ankle ligaments in February, but returned to match action in the league clash against Hoffenheim earlier this month.

However, the Germany international endured a recovery setback ahead of last weekend's 6-0 Bundesliga win over Hertha Berlin, and will now reportedly be ruled out of the encounter against Hannover at the Allianz Arena.

Schweinsteiger entered the training pitch on Thursday to perform running exercises, but was forced to leave halfway through the practice session due to ankle problems.

After Saturday's match against Hannover, which kicks off at 15.30CET, Bayern will travel to Marseille on Wednesday for the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals.
