Inter president Massimo Moratti has saluted the contribution of Wesley Sneijder to the Nerazzurri following the Dutchman sealing his €7.5m move to Galatasaray.

The 28-year-old spent three and a half years with Inter and, having inspired the club to a historic treble in 2010, Moratti insists he will remembered as a prominent figure in the distinguished history of the club.

“He gave so much to Inter. And that’s not purely sentiment, that’s recognition," Moratti told reporters.

“He'll always remain one of the key figures in Inter history. We're proud to have had him here and Galatasaray will be too.”

Sneijder's proposed move to Turkey was delayed following the Dutch international stating he would not be rushed into deciding his future.

But Moratti has revealed he is happy with the conclusion and also praised Galatasaray's officials in the role they played in finalising the deal.

He added: “Why did it take so long? If something needs to happen, all that matters is that it does.

"Am I happy with the end result? Yes, without a doubt. Galatasaray did everything properly, their president, vice-president, they're very good people.

“I think the player is happy too, otherwise he wouldn't have gone there."
