The troubled La Liga outfit's financial insecurity has prompted the veteran defender to express his concern over the situation
The ambitious Liga side was acquired by Sheikh Abdullah Al Thani in 2010, with the Qatari businessman immediately strengthening the side with high-profile signings such as Santi Cazorla and Martin Demichelis.
Financial backing appears to have run dry however, amidst reports players have not been paid all of their wages and after Villarreal reported the Andalusian club to Uefa over unfinished payments owing to Cazorla's transfer the previous season.
"We are concerned about the club's future under the Sheikh," Weligton said to reporters.
"The squad is hardly quiet with what is happening, but we hope there will soon be a change for the better. It will be nice if the owners can continue with this project.
"We know we have late payments pending and it'll only be a matter of time before we collect. Everything will eventually be done, if not one way then the other.
Albanian company Taci Oil have recently denied supposed intentions to buy the troubled club.
