Tottenham sign Fryers from Standard Liege

Spurs had chased the former Manchester United trainee throughout the summer and have returned for the 20-year-old in the January transfer window

Tottenham have confirmed the signing of former Manchester United full-back Zeki Fryers from Standard Liege.

Goal.com revealed that Spurs had bid for the left-sided defender in the summer before his eventual move to Belgium.

Fryers was targeted ahead of the winter window once again by Spurs, who have now completed a move for the defender.

The 20-year-old left Old Trafford in the summer after spending three years in the Red Devils' youth academy, and made six appearances for Sir Alex Ferguson's side in all competitions last season.

Fryers had played five times for Standard so far this term, who currently sit fifth in the Belgian Jupiler League.

The England Under-19 international will join Spurs' developmental squad.
