Montpellier's Girard sure of Belhanda stay

The coach of the Ligue 1 champions has said that the talented Moroccan will remain at the club despite having been heavily linked with pastures new
Montpellier coach Rene Girard has guaranteed that Younes Belhanda will not leave the club in the summer.

The Morocco international has been strongly linked with a new challenge after playing an influential role in Montpellier's title-winning campaign in Ligue 1.

Earlier in May, Belhanda had said that he was leaning towards staying at Montpellier, and Girard is confident that he will be able to count on the 22-year-old next season.

"From what I know, Younes will be with us the next season," he told Canal+. "From a sporting point of view, that would be my advice to him.

"He is at a stage in which he needs to grow and the Champions League can help him with that."

Belhanda, who broke into Montpellier's senior team in 2009, has been named Ligue 1's best prospect and is part of the league's team of the season.
