O'Neill's side have endured a drain of talent to the Republic of Ireland national team but the former Shamrock Rovers boss will comb the Airtricity League for eligible players
O'Neill spent three seasons managing Dublin outfit Shamrock Rovers, winning back to back league titles, and attended his former side's 2-0 victory over Derry City in the Setanta Sports Cup semi-final at the Brandywell on Monday.
He stated that there are several players in the Airtricity League eligible for Northern Ireland service. Among those on his radar are Derry City trio Gerard Doherty, Patrick McEleney and striker David McDaid.
Shamrock Rovers pair Chris Turner and Conor McCormack, a former Republic of Ireland under-19 international, are also eligible for O'Neill's Northern Ireland team.
Meanwhile, Burnley's 17-year-old prospect Shay McCartan has been called up to the Northern Ireland U21 squad. The highly-rated Newry-born forward made his professional debut for Burnley at the beginning of April.
