The striker has turned his back on Oriel Park in favour of a move to Tallaght, where he will link up with former Lilywhites Ronan Finn and Darren Meenan
Shamrock Rovers have completed the signing of highly rated Republic of Ireland youth international Michael O'Connor.
The 18-year-old joins Stephen Bradley's side from Premier Division champions Dundalk, where he spent the last three seasons, and he is looking forward to the new challenge.
"I am delighted to sign for Shamrock Rovers," O'Connor told the club's official website.
"I enjoyed my time at Dundalk but I felt that I needed a change and Stephen Bradley has offered me the chance to prove myself and show what I can do.
"I will grab that chance with both hands and I look forward to getting stuck in straight away starting with training on Monday."
O'Connor is the latest in a long list of new signings at Tallaght, which includes former Dundalk players Ronan Finn and Darren Meenan among others.
Rovers boss Bradley said that the striker "turned down some big offers" in favour of a move to south Dublin, with a number of English clubs said to have been interested in securing his services.
"We are delighted to have signed Michael (O’Connor), he is a very good young player and is eager to show everyone how good he really is," said Bradley.
"He turned down some big offers to come to Shamrock Rovers. He buys into what we are building and wants to be a part of it."
O'Connor made just three league appearances for Dundalk in 2016, scoring once, and featured in the Champions League play-off against Legia Warsaw as a late substitute.
Meanwhile, Alan Keane has also left Dundalk ahead of the 2017 League of Ireland campaign after joining NIFL Premiership side Crusaders until the end of the 2016-17 season.
Keane, 32, joined the Lilywhites half-way through the 2016 campaign and made five league appearances, as well as featuring twice in the run to the FAI Cup final.
