The 26-year-old midfielder's arrival from Wexford Youths brings the number of players committed to Dave Robertson's side to 15
Sligo Rovers have announced the signing of Chris Kenny from recently-relegated Wexford Youths.
Kenny, a midfielder who can also play in defence, enjoyed two spells with the Youths between 2010 and the end of the 2016 season, in which he scored three goals in 31 appearances.
Speaking to the club's website, Bit O'Red manager Dave Robertson hailed the signing, noting the 26-year-old's versatility and drive.
“He is a central midfielder who will bring an abundance of energy to the team," said Robertson. "He also has a great competitive spirit. Chris has the energy to get forward into the box and score goals.
“He is also dominant in the air. He has played centre-half in his career but I see him more in the midfield for with us. He will give us the tenacity that we need in midfield as well as adding goals.”
Kenny is the third new arrival at the Showgrounds this close-season, joining Kyle Callan-McFadden and Shaun Patton in signing on the dotted line for Robertson from Orlando City and Derry City respectively.
The midfielder's arrival brings the number of players commited to Sligo to 15 ahead of the impending 2017 season.
