Maxwell hails Selecao atmosphere

The PSG defender is hoping to stake a claim for a permanent role in the starting line-up in the absence of Real Madrid full-back Marcelo
Maxwell has hailed the group dynamic of the Brazil squad as he prepares to play a starring role in the Gillette International Soccer Series this week.

The PSG left-back joined the squad following the Selecao’s Confederations Cup success and will have the opportunity to stake his claim for a starting role after Real Madrid’s Marcelo was forced out of the squad with injury.

And the former Barcelona and Ajax defender has labelled the camaraderie amongst the squad as the best he’s experienced.

“The atmosphere is wonderful, it's very lively,” he told TV Gazeta.

“It’s a group that enjoys being together in a different way from other squads in which I’ve been involved.

“I am very happy to be part of this group. I'll try to do my best so that I am able to take a step further in my dream of reaching the World Cup.”

Brazil face Honduras at the Sun Life Stadium in Miami on Saturday before heading to Toronto to face Chilie on November 19.
