Napoli coach Mazzarri sees ban overturned ahead of Palermo opener

The Italian coach will be on the sidelines in the club’s first match of the Serie A season, although Goran Pandev, Andre Dossena and Juan Camilo Zuniga failed in their appeals

Napoli head coach Walter Mazzarri has seen his touchline ban for his conduct during the club’s 4-2 Supercoppa defeat overturned.

The 50-year-old was given a one-match ban after being send to the stands during Juventus’ extra-time victory in Beijing for remonstrating with officials.

The decision means the Naples boss will be on the sidelines for the club’s first Serie A clash of the season against Palermo on Sunday, although three of his players failed in their attempts to rescind their bans.

“The Federal Court of Justice has partially amended the punishment of Napoli manager Walter Mazzarri, commuting a one-match ban for his actions in the Supercoppa to a fine of €20,000,” the FIGC stated on their website.

“Appeals against the two-game bans for Goran Pandev and Andrea Dossena have been rejected, and the appeal by Juan Camilo Zuniga against his one-match ban has been ruled inadmissible.”
