The former Catania striker has arrived in Dubai for a medical with Walter Zenga's side who are hoping to secure him on a one-year deal with the option for another term
The 32-year-old Italian arrived in Dubai this week and will undergo a medical on Saturday.
“We are still negotiating with him, but he is here for his medical and we hope it will be sorted out so that he can join us," Al Nasr board member Abdullah Al Bannai told Sport360.
Mascara is being targetted by Al Nasr boss Walter Zenga after former Italy international Luca Toni asked to leave the club after a poor form in the first six months of his one-year stay in Dubai.
Al Nasr had also been linked with Palermo's forward Fabrizio Miccoli, however the club told Goal.com last week it hadn't held talks with the Italian.
The contract for Mascara, who spent last term at Novara, failing to help them stay in Serie A, is understood to include an option for a further season.
