Ghana FA to decide on coach Goran Stevanovic’s fate in two weeks

The executive committee of the Ghana FA will state their position on Plavi in two weeks time after a full consideration of a report on the Black Stars' performance at 2012 Afcon

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) will determine whether to keep Goran Stevanovic as coach of the Black Stars within the next two weeks.

A section of the Ghanaian public is calling for the head of the Serbian for what they call a disappointing performance at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon).

The 45-year-old had insisted ahead of the tournament that he was going to the 28th edition of the continental showpiece to end Ghana’s 30-year trophy drought, but that did not materialise.

The FA was expected to announce to the local press their decision on the coach after a crunch meeting on Wednesday morning, but after meeting, the executive committee the FA deferred their ruling to the next fortnight.

“We are unable to state any position on Mr. Stevanovic's future with the Ghana national team for now. The Ex.Co [Executive Committee] are still studying the report of the coach and from the management team on the Black Stars' participation at the Nations Cup," Kwesi Nyantakyi, the FA president said.

"All stakeholders will have an opportunity to study the report on the technical team and every aspect of our planning and management and a decision will be taken afterwards,” he added.

Ghana finished fourth at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
