Louis van Gaal's appointment as Ajax CEO prohibited by Dutch court

The flamboyant Dutchman was due to start his new job in June, but the club's decision to hire the 60-year-old has been reversed after a court ruling

An Amsterdam court has ruled that the appointment of Louis van Gaal as Ajax CEO by four out of five members of the supervisory board did not follow the required procedure and the club are therefore prohibited from hiring the former Bayern Munich boss.

Van Gaal was named general director of the Amsterdam giants in November 2011 after a meeting between board members Steven ten Have, Edgar Davids, Marjan Olfers and Paul Romer, and was due to start his new job in June 2012.

However, the aforementioned four failed to properly inform fifth commissioner Johan Cruyff of the meeting as they feared the Ajax icon would impede Van Gaal's appointment.

The legendary No.14 filed a lawsuit in order to have the decision reversed and a Haarlem court suspended Van Gaal's appointment back in December. A final decision was reached on Monday and the court's verdict means that Van Gaal's appointment has fallen through.

A shareholders meeting is scheduled to take place on Friday and it's expected that the supervisory board will be disbanded to end the ongoing feud between Cruyff and the other four commissioners.
