Official: Al Hilal dismiss Thomas Doll and appoint ex-Czech Republic boss Ivan Hasek
The former Borussia Dortmund and Hamburg coach has had his contract terminated with the 13-time Saudi champions after a poor run of results and performances
Saudi Arabian heavyweights Al Hilal have terminated the contract of German boss Thomas Doll and swiftly replaced him with former Czechoslovakia international Ivan Hasek. The 48-year-old Czech has vast experience in the Middle East, having previously coached UAE pair Al Ahli and Al Wasl.
Hasek, who was sacked by Al Ahli in November and replaced by Spaniard Quique Sanchez Flores, will arrive in Riyadh in early February.
In the meantime, Al Hilal will be led by Olympic Team coach Heiko Bannon as well as Sami Al Jaber.
The side were full of praise for the departing Doll, stating he had overcome many difficulties during his time at the club, and shown good ethics and cooperation in the past week with speculation mounting he'd be replaced.
The former Borussia Dortmund boss had guided Al Hilal to top spot this season, however, a recent run of results in the league in which the team claimed just five points from four games
Al Hilal, who are 13-time Saudi champions, lost to Al Ahli Jeddah 1-0 on Thursday in what proved to be Doll's final game in charge.
