Basel attacker Xherdan Shaqiri is eagerly anticipating the first leg of his side's Champions League round of 16 tie at home against Bayern Munich.
The Switzerland international, who will leave his current club to join the Bavarians at the end of the season, feels that the Bundesliga giants are favourites to progress as he considers them to be the best club in Germany.
"Bayern are the favourites, they will come to Basel to win. They will play very differently from how they recently did in Freiburg. Bayern are, and for me remain, the best club in Germany," Shaqiri said to Bild.
The winger recently spoke with Bayern coach Jupp Heynckes on the phone and did not let the opportunity to discuss Wednesday's encounter pass by.
"I asked Mr. Heynckes: 'Will you not be mad at me if I score a goal against Bayern in the round of 16?' He laughed and then made a joke about it. It was a very nice conversation."
Wednesday's match at the St Jakob-Park kicks off at 20.45CET.
