Made one vital intervention early on, but might have known little about it as he used his face to keep out a Messi drive. Could have come out to deal with the Argentine's free kick which gave Barca the lead. Alert as he dived at the feet of Alexis later in the half. Helpless for the second goal.
Defended well early on and got a vital block on Alexis' drive, which hit the crossbar but would have gone in without the centre-back's intervention. Poor marking as Barca took the lead, however, in an anotherwise impressive display at the back.
Given a torrid time by Alexis but stuck to his task and worked tirelessly. Moved the ball quickly forward in the early stages of the match, but was forced back deep by Barca after the Catalans took the lead.
Given plenty of problems in the right-back role by Messi and Pedro, with the majority of Barca's best early attacks coming down that side. Struggled in terms of pace and his positioning was suspect as well. Replaced not long into the second half.
Started well as Mallorca kept Barca at bay defensively early on, but it was his foul which gave the Catalans their free kick which led to the first goal. Struggled after that as Barca grew in confidence, but worked hard and almost got onto a long ball at the other end.
Like Pereira, Castro looked impressive in the early stages and his pace caused Barca problems. Got away from the Catalans' three-man back line in the first half but was eventually crowded out. Switched flanks effectively with Pereira.
Another hard worker in central midfield, he acted as a defensive shield but also showed some moments of class on the ball before he faded and was replaced in the second half.
Provided a useful outlet as Mallorca attacked early on and his pace and clever passes gave Barca plenty to think about in the first half. One cross set up Alvaro for a decent headed opportunity early on. Looked a threat right to the end as he showed tremendous stamina.
Another lively performer, he came close with an early header but was isolated and saw less of the ball as the game wore on. Replaced by Hemed in the second half.
A willing runner in attack, he troubled Barca at times with his movement and held up the ball well, but never really looked a goal threat and failed to truly test the Catalans' three-man back line.
Came charging off his line in added time and was unable to punch the ball cleanly away. Otherwise was rarely troubled but needed to be alert at times as Barca looked vulnerable with a three-man back line.
Defended too high up the pitch early on given his side were playing with just three defenders. But he adapted and was his usual commited self and provided a cool head when Barca needed it as they laboured with 10 men and just a goal up in the second half.
Gave the ball away once in a dangerous position but stepped up and looked better than he has done of late in Barca's three-man defence. Also got forward to score the vital second goal late in the game after Messi had hit the post.
Struggling to match his early-season form and was largely ineffective in Barca's four-man midfield, unable to provide his usual goal threat and failing to link up with Messi as he has done with such brilliance this season. Was replaced by Montoya on the hour after Thiago's sending off.
Looked dangerous early on as he tried his luck on several occasions and wasn't too far off with one excellent deflected drive. Lost the ball once inexplicably in midfield in the first period, and struggled at times as Mallorca played at a high tempo.
Looks more and more like a central defender with every match and did well alongside Pique and Puyol in Barcelona's three-man back line, with some important tackles. Was solid and dependable when Barca were suffering in the second half.
He had looked one of Barcelona's best players until he was rather unfortunately dismissed for a contentious handball decision after having already been booked. Played some fantastic through balls in the first half and stepped up in the absence of Xavi. Unlucky.
Still some way short of his best but grew in stature as this game went on. Made a disappointing start but caused Chico plenty of problems after that and was unlucky to be substituted in the second half.
The importance of his role is emphasised when Barca are playing with just three at the back. Showed tremendous discipline as he tracked back, dropped deep and provided a defensive shield for Barca, especially after Thiago was dismissed.
The Argentine looked below his best early on but tested Dudu with a shot the goalkeeper saved with his face. Then gave Barca the lead with a curling free kick which Alexis looked to have touched, while his shot against the post set up Pique for the second of the evening.
Can consider himself very unlucky not to have gone onto the scoresheet, given that it looked like he got a tiny touch on Messi's free-kick opener. Also saw a fierce drive deflected onto the crossbar. Full of running and was one of his side's best performers on the night. Really shows his worth on the road, when he can stretch teams with his pace on the break.
- 1 Calatayud
- 22 Pau Cendrós
- 2 G. Zuiverloon
Introduced with 15 minutes left to provide some inspiration for Mallorca but was unable to provide it.
- 5 Pina
Usually a forward player, he came on as a defensive substitute and adapted well in place of Chico, but wasn't able to get forward as he would have liked.
Came on as a second-half substitute and worked hard. Headed over right at the death but didn't get many chances, even as Mallorca were a man to the good.
- 13 Pinto
- 26 Muniesa
Came on for Cesc with half an hour left as Barca reverted to a four-man back line after Thiago was dismissed. Did well defensively and also made some good forward runs.
- 23 Cuenca
Came on to provide more defensive steel as Barca looked to close out the game with 10 men, and he gave the Catalans more solidity as he replaced Pedro.
- 6 Xavi
Introduced for the last eight minutes but had little impact.
