Live Commentary

  • The first half may have been a rather forgettable 45 minutes of football, but, the second half was certainly not. Cagliari fought valiantly and really did take the game to Juve. The penalty put them ahead but when they went down to ten men they just could not halt the Juve machine. Vucinic changed the game as Matri popped up with two opportunistic goals before the Montenegrin rounded out the win. A gutsy display by the Sardinians, but, the champions show their champion quality to grind and grind until the game was one.
  • And its over. Juve 3-1 Cagliari.
  • 90' + 4'
    Assist Sebastian Giovinco
  • 90' + 4'
    Goal Mirko Vučinić
Now its Giovinco and its Vucinic with another for Juve. GOAL.
  • 90' + 3'
Suspicion of a hand ball there from Vidal, but, the ball drips very nicely to Matri who coolly slots beyond Agazzi. Matri had one goal heading into this game and here he has scored two goals.
  • 90' + 2'
    Assist Arturo Vidal
  • 90' + 2'
    Goal Alessandro Matri
GOAL! Matri does it again against his old side. 2-1 Juve take the lead.
  • 90'
Well, there's still time as six minutes are added on.
  • 89'
Now its Matri. He brings the ball down and going away from goal he shoots but it is blocked. Perhaps should have let Asamoah have a dig as he was better placed.
  • 88'
Agazzi makes an incredible save as the Ghanaian heads on goal from yards out but Agazzi keeps it out somehow with, I repeat, an incredible save.
  • 88'
How does that not go in? Asamoah so close.
  • 86'
Again, Vucinic. Asamoah plays the decoy and the space opens for the Montenegrin to shoot but its a weak attempt.
  • 85'
Great work by Vucinic. He's been brilliant since his introduction. This time he receives the ball from Pirlo and does great to carve out the space to get a shot in.
  • 84'
Giovinco swings in a cross, but, the Rossoblu deal with it as Juve continue to look for the winner.
  • 81'
After the drama of the red card, the missed penalty and the equaliser, the game has died down a tad here. Though, Juve are still probing forward with their man advantage.
  • 78'
    Substitution Mauricio Pinilla Nenê
  • 78'
Vucinic drives in another low effort and Agazzi again can only parry it. The Montenegrin is making a real impact since coming on for Lichsteiner.
  • 76'
Credit to Vucinic, whos shot Agazzi could not hold and it was Matri, showing great instinct, who slotted home the rebound against his former club.
  • 75'
    Goal Alessandro Matri
GOAL! Matri levels matters, its 1-1.
  • 74'
And delighful inside pass by Pirlo but Marchisio's touch is not great but its a corner for Juve.
  • 73'
    Substitution Stephan Lichtsteiner Mirko Vučinić
  • 72'
    Missed Penalty Arturo Vidal
And he has missed. Vidal has missed from 12 yards. His effort flies over the bar and that is quite simply unbelievable.
  • 72'
Fabro pulls down Giovinco in the box and it looks like the right call. Vidal steps up to take it.
  • 71'
    PENALTY... this time for Juve.
  • 69'
Padoin has a great chance but his volley goes wide. Great ball there by Pirlo and great work by Vidal.
  • 67'
Substitution Marco Sau Dario Del Fabro
  • 67'
Well, Juve may be a goal down but they are a man up and there are just over twenty minutes to go.
  • 65'
    Yellow/Red Davide Astori
But, its a red card to Davide Astori. The captain fouls Giovinco from behind and that is his second bookable offence.
  • 64'
Juve perhaps unlucky not to be given a penalty as Asamoah looked like he was pushed in the back when he scored that goal that was ruled out.
  • 63'
And, that is a no. Juve score through Asamoah but it is ruled out by the goal-line referee.
  • 63'
    GOAL...No?
  • 62'
    Substitution Martín Cáceres Simone Padoin
  • 62'
After bringing on Matri for Quags, Conte introduces Padoin for Caceres... an interesting change which will see Juve alter their shape here.
  • 61'
    Substitution Fabio Quagliarella Alessandro Matri
  • 60'
    Yellow Card Francesco Pisano
  • 60'
And yet another card now... this time it is Pisano who catches Lichsteiner with a high foot.
  • 59'
Oh that was close. Buffon almost beaten with a looping attempt from Sau.
  • 57'
    Yellow Card Daniele Dessena
This game may not end with 22 players in the pitch as this time it is Dessena who is booked. Free kick Juve.
  • 55'
Juve enjoying a good spell here with Cagliari really on the back foot at the moment.
  • 54'
    Yellow Card Stephan Lichtsteiner
Another yellow card and a deserving one for Lichsteiner, he was nowhere near the ball.
  • 53'
    Substitution Nicola Murru Gabriele Perico
  • 51'
Vidal does great to pick out Quags in the box who turns and shoots but his shot is blocked as Vidal is again brought to the ground shortly after.
  • 50'
Some handbags here as the two sets of players clash following a foul on Vidal in a great position outside the box.
  • 49'
Caceres does well to halt Ekdal who tries to bring his side forward on the counter attack. The Uruguayan is putting in a good shift tonight.
  • 47'
MARCHISIO....The Italian drives in a great attempt but the well-placed Agazzi is again equal to it.
  • 46'
Juve get in behind the Cagliari defence with Lichsteiner who crosses across the face of goal. But, Astori does well to clear the danger.
  • 45'
And the second half is underway...
  • Its been a frustrating evening so far for the league leaders who have created little in the first half and find themselves down by a goal to nil. As for Sardinians, they have been terrific. Defensively, they have been water-tight but they have not been scared to venture forward too. Juve certainly have their work cut out for them if they are to come out with anything here.
  • 45'
And that is the end of the first half.
  • 44'
Finally, Juve register a shot on goal and it is Pirlo on his left foot but its easy pickings for Agazzi.
  • 43'
Juve are pushing hard here for an equaliser as half time approaches.
  • 41'
Quags links up well with Lichsteiner in the box but the Swiss is called offside.
  • 39'
Appeal for a penalty there and perhaps a legitimate one. Quags is brought down in the box by Astori who has his arms all over the Neapolitan. But, it is not called.
  • 38'
Pirlo whips in a dangerous free kick, then Giovinco tries to pick out Quags but there is just no getting through Cagliari at the moment for Juve.
  • 37'
    Yellow Card Davide Astori
  • 36'
Pulga's side are still getting forward here, they are definitely not just sitting back and defending their lead. Its good to see from side 16 places below Juve in the table.
  • 34'
Juve just cannot get clear in on goal. Giovinco's cross is blocked, Marchisio shot is blocked as Cagliari clear the danger again.
  • 32'
A CHANCE FOR JUVE. Quagliarella latches on to delightful long ball from Bonucci. But, the Neapolitan does not test Agazzi.
  • 29'
    Yellow Card Nicola Murru
Now its Nicola Murru who receives a booking for his ill-timed challenge on Lichsteiner. From the resulting free kick, Juve again struggle to create a clear opening.
  • 27'
    Yellow Card Arturo Vidal
The Rossoblu are doing a great job of containing Juve and it is clearly getting to them a little bit as Vidal goes into the referee's book for a tackle from behind.
  • 25'
Pirlo fluffs his lines while Lichsteiner does the same as the ball is lofted over the defence but the Swiss cannot direct his effort on target.
  • 24'
A free-kick for Juve in an inviting position and of course it is Pirlo lining this one up.
  • 21'
Juve have responded well here. Giovinco finds Lichsteiner who is charging in behind the Rossoblu defence but Agazzi does well to tidy things up.
  • 20'
    Yellow Card Lorenzo Ariaudo
  • 20'
But, the champions find themselves behind here but there is plenty of time.
  • 18'
Looking at the replays, it was perhaps a soft decision by the referee. The contact seemed minimal but Marco Sau made the most of it while Vidal perhaps slightly clumsy.
  • 18'
Looking at the replays, it was perhaps a soft decision by the referee. The contact seemed minimal but Marco Sau made the most of it while Vidal perhaps slightly clumsy.
  • 17'
Juve almost respond but there is no one there as the ball is played across the face of goal by Asamoah.
  • 16'
    Penalty Goal Mauricio Pinilla
GOAL. Pinilla put his side up from the spot. Buffon no chance.
  • 15'
Is that a penalty?....It's a penalty to Cagliari.
  • 13'
Juve looking a little more settled now and finally muster an attack after some good link up play between Giovinco and Marchisio.
  • 12'
and by home, I mean 'home'.
  • 12'
A strange atmosphere here at the Ennio Tardini. Cagliari are the home side but there are more Juve fans here in the stands.
  • 9'
Such a great touch there from Pirlo, controls a long ball and goes by his marker at the same time. Class.
  • 8'
Juve still have not got going, but, they are enjoying a good little spell now as they win a corner with Pirlo to take.
  • 6'
Rather an uninspiring start to this match and if anything Pulga's are on top at the moment.
  • 5'
Quagliarella and Giovinco try to connect but Cagliari tidy up the danger.
  • 3'
Ivo Pulga, the Cagliari boss, promised this week his side would attack the Bianconeri and early signs are that he is sticking to his words.
  • 2'
In freezing conditions here at the Ennio Tardini, it is Cagliari who are taking the game straight away to their visitors.
  • 1'
    And we are off...
  • As for the Sardinians, they have not managed to beat the Bianconeri since 2009 when goals from Nene and current Juve striker, Alessandro Matri earned them a two-goal victory.
  • SInce their defeat to Milan, the Old Lady has been in fine form winning five matches in a row and they will be looking to make it six tonight.
  • Now Juventus. Lineup: Buffon; Caceres, Bonucci, Barzagli; Lichtsteiner, Vidal, Pirlo, Marchisio, Asamoah; Giovinco, Quagliarella.
  • Here are today's lineups, starting with the 'home' team Cagliari - this match is being played in Parma, so you know. Lineup: Agazzi; Pisano, Astori, Ariaudo, Murru; Dessena, Nainggolan, Ekdal; Thiago Ribeiro; Pinilla, Sau
