Bray Wanderers 1-2 Cork City - Leesiders score late double to record rare win

Tommy Dunne's side struck twice in the last six minutes to edge out Bray Wanderers, and pick up their third win of the season

Cork City went against type by scoring two late goals to defeat Bray Wanderers at the Carlisle Grounds. Ian Turner's 87th minute penalty kick and Shane Duggan's stoppage time strike snatched all three points for Tommy Dunne's side after Kevin Knight gave the hosts a first-half lead.

The visitors started better, and had a few early chances with Shane Duggan and Daryl Horgan doing well. At the other end, Kieran 'Marty' Waters had a shot that went just wide of Mark McNulty's goal. The match was an open affair, and it was Bray who struck first, as Kevin Knight headed in on 25 minutes.

Jason Byrne was impressive for the hosts, hitting the post with a well-taken effort, and seeing another chance go marginally wide. The game continued to excite after the interval, with Colin Healy going closest to equalising with a decent headed effort. The visitors pushed on for an equaliser, and finally took their chance with three minutes remaining as Ian Turner scored from the spot after a handball in the area.

Cork then struck again in stoppage time with Shane Duggan pouncing on a rebound after Turner's effort was initially saved by Darren Quigley.

The win is Cork's third victory of the season, and sees them climb above Shamrock Rovers to seventh in the table.
