David Mulcahy's third minute goal gave Bohs a win over their local rivals, as Ronan Finn missed from the spot in the second-halfAn early goal from David Mulcahy and a penalty miss from Rona Finn saw Bohemians record a hard-fought victory over Dublin rivals Shamrock Rovers at Dalymount Park.
A good start by Bohs quickly silenced the visiting fans, as David Mulcahy gave the hosts a third minute lead when he drove home Andy Mulligan's corner. The Hoops almost hit back instantly, but Daniel Ledwith saw his free-kick come back off the post before it was eventually cleared to safety.
Shamrock Rovers pushed for an equaliser, with Gary McCabe carving out a couple of opportunities, while Ronan Finn also went close. The Hoops never really threatened Dean Delany's goal, but should have had a penalty before half-time when Daniel Byrne handled in the area.
Delany was finally called into action in the second-half, saving from Karl Sheppard after a cross from Ledwith. Andy Mulligan went close to giving Bohs a two goal advantage, but his shot just fizzed past the post. Shamrock Rovers were awarded a penalty 10 minutes from time for another handball, but Ronan Finn saw his spot kick come back off the bar.
The Hoops pushed forward for an equaliser, but Bohs were happy to count down the clock, with Andy Mulligan booked for time-wasting late on as the hosts held on for victory.
The defeat puts further pressure on Hoops boss Trevor Croly despite his side reaching a second cup final of the season.
