Trevor Croly's side were forced to play most of the game with ten men after Derek Foran picked up two yellow cards, one for a heavy challenge which ended Chris Lyons' afternoon
An even opening period saw both sides create chances, with the best falling to Shamrock Rovers defender Conor Powell. However, the full-back lifted his shot over the bar. At the other end, Save Scully failed to convert a header after a fine move by Karl Moore out wide. Two yellow cards in two minutes saw the visitors reduced to ten men, with Derek Foran fouling Chris Lyons and then Karl Moore to pick up two yellow cards. The second challenge was a heavy one, forcing Lyons off injured, but Bohs could not make the man advantage count for the remainder of the half, and the sides went in scoreless.
Bohemians were the better team after the break, with Owen Heary and Derek Pender creating chances for themselves. However, as in the first half, Hoops goalkeeper Barry Murphy was rarely tested, as Bohs failed to turn possession into shots on target. Shamrock Rovers got back into the game in the later stages, and had a penalty appeal turned down when Roberto Lopes blocked Karl Sheppard's shot.
After Jason McGuinness picked up a late injury, Bohs pushed more men forward to grab the three points, but could not carve open a solid Rovers defence, and came away with a draw, despite playing against 10 men for most of the game.
