Two goals from Chris Lyons saw Aaron Callaghan's side take all three points in a close encounter at Dalymount ParkGoals in either half from Chris Lyons and a Dave Mulcahy strike saw Bohemians come away with a narrow victory against Bray Wanderers, who were kept in the tie thanks to strikes from Gary Dempsey and John Mulroy.
The hosts had the better of the opening stages, and took the lead after just 12 minutes. Former UCD striker Chris Lyons continued his good run of form, tapping in after some unselfish play from John Mulligan. Just over 10 minutes later, Bohs were pegged back. Gary Dempsey's shot took a deflection off Kieran 'Marty' Walters to beat Dean Delany. Walters had been down injured, and the deflection left the keeper no chance.
Walters got back to his feet after the goal and almost had one of his own before half-time, but saw his effort rebound off the post. Bohs were once again the better side in the second half, and had Lyons to thank again for helping them retake the lead. Ryan McEvoy played in a nice ball for Lyons, who chipped Darren Quigley for his second. Dave Mulcahy extended the hosts' lead on 66 minutes getting on the end of a free-kick as his side continued to push men forward.
However, Bray never gave up and pegged one back through John Mulroy after good play from Kevin Knight. Bray had a couple of late chances to get an equaliser, with Jason Byrne going closest, but could not break down the Bohemians defence.
The victory moves Bohemians up to ninth while Bray continue to struggle, and find themselves in a relegation battle.
