Leesiders boss John Caulfield will be hopeful of building upon his team's positive start to the season with victory over his former clubCork City will be aiming to extend their winning streak when they take on Athlone Town at Athlone Town Stadium on Friday.
The Leesiders come into the tie on the back of a 3-1 home victory over Bray Wanderers last week and will look to continue their run by beating Mick Cooke's team, who are without a point this season, having lost their opening three fixtures.
Cork City attacking duo, Anthony Elding and Mark O'Sullivan, will have late fitness tests, while Liam Kearney has been struggling with a hamstring injury and is a doubt. Captain John Dunleavy missed training through illness, but should be available for selection.
Athlone are boosted by the return of Niall Scullion, who returns to the squad after missing the opening part of the season due to being stationed in Syria with the Irish Defence Forces.
However, Neil Harney is out of contention and doubts continue to hang over the fitness of Philip Gorman, James O'Brien and Aidan Collins.
