A Christy Fagan double saw St Patrick's Athletic ease to victory over Bray Wanderers at Richmond Park. A late red card for David Webster compounded the misery for Pat Devlin's side.

The home side took the lead after just six minutes. Chris Forrester found Ian Bermingham overlapping down the left flank and the full back's low cross was tapped in at the far post by Christy Fagan. Devlin's men struggled to get out of their own half early on, but wasted one of the few clear cut opportunities that fell their way. Kevin O'Connor had just the keeper to beat after some good work by Jason Byrne, but the midfielder dragged his shot wide.

Liam Buckley's side came close to doubling their lead 25 minutes in. Conan Byrne's cross found the head of Shane McFaul who saw his effort come back off the crossbar. It wasn't long before the Saints did add another and it came on the half hour mark. Ger O'Brien played a neat one-two with Conan Byrne, before his ball across the face of goal was met by Fagan, who steered in his and Pat's' second of the evening.

Bray had little of the ball in the first half and few chances, but almost pulled one back just before the break. Jason Byrne's side-footed effort from just inside the area was straight at Brendan Clarke. Pat's maintained control in a second half of few chances, the best of which fell to Conan Byrne who fired over the bar after a well-worked short corner on the hour mark.

It got worse for the Seagulls as David Webster was shown a second yellow card by referee Alan Kelly for kicking the ball at Chris Forrester. Bray had one or two half chances, but the home side saw the game out comfortably.

Victory for the Saints ensure that Liam Buckely's men remain top of the table and maintain their three point advantage over the chasing pack.
