Liam Buckley's side were made to work hard to take away all three points at the UCD Bowl, as the Students hung on despite having James Kavanagh sent off
The Students had a few early chances with David O'Connor and David McMillan going close as the visitors started brightly. However, Pat's didn't take long to settle and Anthony Flood helped the ball cross the line. However the referee caught Flood's handball, and booked the forward for the infringement. Kenny Browne's headed effort was the closest the visitors had gotten before UCD were reduced to 10 men. James Kavanagh was dismissed for a second bookable offence on 43 minutes, and then just before half-time, Flood had the ball in the net again. However, this effort was a well-placed finish and saw Pat's lead at the break.
The second-half started the way the first ended, but Pat's could not make their pressure count. Killian Brennan went closest for the visitors, but saw his shot rattle the crossbar. Chris Forrester was also lively for the visitors, and had a lovely finish ruled out for offside. The Students were on the back foot for most of the half, but defended well and were lucky to keep the difference down to just one goal.
UCD are still searching for their first win while Pat's progress up the table continues with a second straight victory.
