A comfortable victory for the Bit o' Red sees them surpass Shamrock Rovers at the summit as Anthony Elding and Kieran Djilali hit the target
The hosts dominated from the start with Ross Gaynor going close early on. Anthony Elding had the ball in the net on 20 minutes, but the Englishman's effort was ruled out for offside. Just before half-time, Elding properly got his name on the scoresheet as he headed in Lee Lynch's centre.
Elding was the focal point of most of Sligo's attacks, testing goalkeeper Darren Quigley on a couple of occcasions before adding his second on 87 minutes. Elding's late strike was another header; this time Ross Gaynor found the forward in the penalty area.
With Sligo easing to victory, Kieran Djilali added a third late in stoppage time to see Ian Baraclough's side get off to the perfect start.
