The keeper was not tested as much as he would perhaps have expected, but still managed to be beaten on four occasions.

    Arkaitz

His wayward header enabled Benzema to head home the opening goal, ending the excellent start his team made to the game.

  • Carlos Alcántara

    Carlos Alcántara

Kept the wide men quiet at times but was skinned a few too many times.

  • Javi Selvas

    Javi Selvas

His shoddy clearance had a hand in Benzema's first goal and he failed to keep tabs on the Frenchman throughout.

  • César Remón

    César Remón

Stood off Kaka as the Brazilian fired in Real Madrid's second but improved in the second. Should well have got on the scoresheet but got into some great positions.

  • Ferrán

    2.50

    Ferrán

Started positively but soon fizzled out. His trickery down the left helped win his side some valuable free kicks and corners.

  • J. Mosquera

    J. Mosquera

The Venezuelan was always lively out on the left but struggled to get the better of Nacho.

  • Javi Lara

    Javi Lara

By far the hosts' best player, Javi Lara showed ability worthy of a side higher than the third-tier. His delivery was consistently good and he netted a wonderful free kick late on.

  • Pereira

    2.50

    Pereira

Showed good strength in defence and read the play well. He put in a number of solid challenges to ward off the likes of Kaka and Callejon.

  • Julio de Dios

    3.00

    Julio de Dios

Have a very lively first half but only managed to get one shot away at goal. He was a key part to Alcoyano's ability to stretch the Madrid defence.

  • David Torres

    David Torres

The striker put in a good shift for his side, putting the centre-backs under constant pressure. He was one of few players to have Adan worried.

Substitutions

    Devesa

Replaced Ferran in the second half but failed to have an impact on the game.

    Fran Piera

Had a positive impact on his team in the second half but failed to get the better of Adan with two decent chances.

  • Omar

    Omar

Replaced De Dios shortly before the hour mark and was unable to divert a decent chance on goal soon after.

  • Adàn

    3.00

    Adàn

Looked fairly shaky in the opening stages but soon settled and made a number of commanding catches. He was hardly threatened with a difficult shot all night but could do nothing to keep Javi Lara off the scoresheet late on.

  • Raúl Albiol
    0
    0
    3.00

    Raúl Albiol

Played out of position at right-back and afforded a bit too much space to the Alcoyano players at times. He did not get forward to aid the attack and left Madrid a bit narrow at top. However, for the majority of the game he was untroubled.

  • Nacho Fernández
    1
    0
    3.00

    Nacho Fernández

Looked extremely comfortable at left-back as a last-ditch clearance denied Alcoyano a great early chance. He then showed superb composure under pressure to frustrate Mosquera.

  • Raphaël Varane
    1
    0
    3.00

    Raphaël Varane

Picked up an early booking after a very clumsy start in defence. He was also complacent in possession but as his team got hold of the game he looked more at ease and put in some decent aerial challenges.

  • Ricardo Carvalho

    2.00

    Ricardo Carvalho

The veteran centre-back certainly looked short of game time and looked well off the pace for large parts. He failed to organise the defence effectively, was beaten far too many times in the air, and conceded a number of free kicks.

  • Michael Essien
    2
    0
    3.50

    Michael Essien

Will certainly have been pleased to move out of the left-back position and back into midfield. The on-loan Ghanaian made some robust challenges and forced Alcoyano to either play down the wings or over the top.

  • Alex Fernández
    1
    0
    3.00

    Alex Fernández

A competent display in midfield alongside Essien. He was confident in possession and rolled the ball up to the attackers well, but did not push on to provide support enough though.

  • Morata
    1
    2
    2.50

    Morata

It was a quiet night for the forward as he was guilty of a lack of service. He did get the ball in the net on one occasion but saw it ruled out for offside. He did not watch the line well enough throughout and failed to make himself available.

  • José Callejón
    2
    0
    2.00

    José Callejón

Failed to take the opportunity to put his name in the hat for more minutes in La Liga. He rarely got involved in the action and struggled to link up with Kaka and Benzema. He was not a goal threat and was hugely disappointing.

  • Karim Benzema
    3
    0
    4.00

    Karim Benzema

Having been benched for the 5-0 win over Mallorca, Benzema gave his coach plenty to think about. An opportunistic first was added to by a composed late finish. Alongside two assists it was a great night for the Frenchman.

  • Kaká
    6
    1
    3.50

    Kaká

After a slow start to the game the Brazilian began to weave his magic on the game with some delicate touches and innovative passing. Scored a precise goal in the first half and set up Benzema for a late second.

Substitutions

  • Luka Modric
    1
    1
    2.50

    Luka Modric

Came on on the hour mark but failed to make a positive impact on the game from the deep-lying position.

  • José Rodríguez

    0
    4.00

    José Rodríguez

Announced himself in the first team with an impressive second-half performance. A brilliant finish left Alba with no chance an eased the pressure on Madrid at a time when Alcoyano were enjoying one of their best spells of the match.
