Showed no fear as he regularly left his line to come and claim a number of crosses into his area. He had a tendency to flap at things rather than catch which put his side under some undue pressure. He was denied a clean sheet late on by Ribery.
Showed his hand immediately as he charged forward from right-back. Found acres of space at the back post to help make the first goal but conversely allowed Badstuber too much space in the BATE half.
Put in a solid shift at the back as he and Simic stayed well-organised to frustrate the Bayern attackers until the very late stages. One lapse in concentration enabled Ribery to pull one back for the visitors, but nevertheless it was a good display.
The centre-back was fortunate to get away with some borderline tackles, but his grit should be praised. A double block shortly before the break epitomised his determination, though he should not have been forced into it in the first place.
The left-back struggled when faced with both Muller and Lahm on his flank, regularly allowing the full-back in behind. He did not provide as much of a threat going forward as Polyakov which made BATE a little predictable on the break.
Helped provide momentary relief for the BATE backline as he attempted to stretch Bayern with a number of rapid breaks. Popped up in the right place to rifle home the first goal and always threatened the defenders.
Put in a combative display in the middle as he tracked the ball across the pitch all evening. Rarely gave the ball away when his team won it and managed to get himself an assist, though he hardly meant his scuffed shot to set up Pavlov for the opener.
The midfielder was always behind the ball when is side were out of possession but broke forward as soon as they won it. His post was key to their counterattacking play and he capped a great performance with an assist for Rodionov.
Was fortunate not to hand Bayern an early lead as he was dispossessed by Kroos in the 13th minute, only to see him hit the post. He was rushed on the ball in the middle and misplaced a few too many passes.
The former Arsenal and Barcelona knitted the play together beautifully during BATE's more positive moments. He pulled all the strings in the second half as he orchestrated all of their attacks and was key to the win.
The striker was extremely lively throughout as he pressured the Bayern defenders as soon as they got on the ball in the opening stages. Remained determined and got his goal in the closing stages after an excellent one-two.
The keeper could do nothing to stop Pavlov's rifled effort from finding the net but should not have been beaten by Rodionov at his near post for BATE's second. He had little else to do other than that but those moments cost his side the game.
Pushed forward to decent effect in the first half but his delivery was not always the best. He did not get at the BATE full-back, who looked out of his depth, enough in the second half and could have done more to reverse the result.
The Brazilian had a difficult night in defence as he looked flustered when put under pressure from Rodionov. He made it all too easy for the striker and failed to maintain composure when backpedalling to defend against the hosts.
Did not do an awful lot during his hour-long stint in midfield. He distributed the ball competently enough but failed to provide enough cover for his defence as they looked vulnerable on the counterattack.
Organisation was absent at the back for Bayern and Boateng did little to help keep his team in check. He was far too weak on the ball and was beaten all too easily as BATE pulled the Bavarians apart with their swift attacks.
Had one of his most adventurous games this season but that was partly to blame for the conceding of the first goal as Palyakov found space at the back post. He got forward well but his delivery was inconsistent.
Chased the ball down in the opening stages and should have scored in the 13th minute but he hit the post after rounding the keeper. Could not find the space he usually does with BATE packing men behind the ball.
The Brazilian failed to provide the defence with adequate protection and was caught out by the swiftness of BATE's charges up the pitch. He also contributed very little to the attack as his side lacked bit in front of goal.
The Frenchman flitted across the pitch continually and always provided a source of danger. He made a number of good passes but his influence waned in the second half, until he struck the post after his team had gone two behind.
The imposing striker was quiet for large parts as he struggled to get involved in the game. Simic was quick to close him down and he therefore struggled to get involved in the match.
Despite having such a brilliant start to the season, Muller was frustrated in the wide areas. He could not get the better of Bordachov but some good link-up play with Lahm provided some of his side's most dangerous moments.
