    Helton

Guilty of a dreadful pass out that went straight to Nene after 11 minutes. Had it not been for an uncharacteristic miss from Ibrahimovic, it would have cost his side dearly. Otherwise, he had no serious work.

  • Danilo

    Danilo

A very tidy performance from the right-back, although much of the damage was done down on the opposite flank. He defended stoutly when required and got past Maxwell on the occasions he did progress.

    Maicon Pereira Roque

Deployed in the heart of the defence, he had one uncomfortable moment when attempting to deal with a high ball but looked comfortable on the whole.

  • Alex Sandro

    Alex Sandro

Raided forward sensibly but dangerously from his role on the left of the Porto rearguard. Caused Van der Wiel incredible headaches and forced the right-back to be replaced. A very strong showing from the full-back, though at crucial times his final ball let him down.

  • Nicolás Otamendi

    Nicolás Otamendi

Generally coped well with the threat of the surprisingly sterile PSG attack, though was caught wrong side of Ibrahimovic on one occasion. Nothing came from his error.

  • Lucho González

    Lucho González

Formerly of PSG’s great rivals Marseille, he failed to show his best form in this game. Got into position to receive passes regularly and used the ball steadily, though a little cutting edge was lacking to his play.

  • Joao Moutinho

    Joao Moutinho

Wasted a glorious early chance in the opening minutes of the game, cracking a chance wide from close range. He would offer a threat throughout this game, not just direct on goal, but with his passing from open play, too.

  • James Rodríguez

James Rodríguez Top of the Match

Posed PSG problems with his intelligent movement and was ready to shoot on sight. Denied by a terrific Sirigu save with nearly half an hour played and flashed a fine volley just wide early in the second period. Got his reward late on with a world-class finish.

  • Fernando

    Fernando

Got on top of the PSG midfield and broke up play superbly. Really laid the platform from which the home side dominated this encounter.

  • Jackson Martínez

    3.50

    Jackson Martínez

Headed a glorious chance over the top 10 minutes before the break when a free kick picked him out perfectly. Was a persistent menace to the visiting side, although he lacked a cool head at the moment of truth more than once.

  • Silvestre Varela
    2

    3.50

    Silvestre Varela

Made a brilliant start to the game, creating havoc in the PSG rearguard. Although he would not quite maintain these heights, he was an immense threat throughout and the visitors never looked comfortable coping with him.

    Christian Twasam Atsu

A terrific threat off the bench. His confidence was a joy to see as he attacked the right side of the PSG defence.

  • Salvatore Sirigu

    3.50

    Salvatore Sirigu

Has not been in the most convincing of form lately, and fumbled an early shot from Danilo, nearly presenting a simple chance to lurking attackers. Made up for this with a very fine same from Rodriguez with half an hour gone and commanded his box well. Helpless with the winning goal.

  • Thiago Silva

    2.50

    Thiago Silva

Left himself in a difficult situation early on when he was booked for a foul on Varela and for the first time in a PSG shirt he did not look entirely comfortable. At key moments, his positioning was superb, however.

  • Mamadou Sakho
    2
    1
    2.50

    Mamadou Sakho

Deployed in the place of Alex, he struggled at times with the movement of the home attack. Made a goal-saving block early in the second half and showed improved positional sense but will enjoy better evenings.

  • Maxwell
    2
    1
    2.50

    Maxwell

Was too easily beaten for strength at times but the main threat to PSG did not come down his flank. Contributed only moderately to the offence of the French outfit but did not have a telling influence at either end of the field.

  • Gregory van der Wiel
    2
    1
    2.00

    Gregory van der Wiel

Is by no means PSG’s first-choice right-back and would not have impressed Carlo Ancelotti on this outing. Many of Porto’s best attacks came down his flank, and the Dutchman seemed to have few ideas how to stem the flow. Withdrawn after a poor hour.

  • Jérémy Menez
    2
    1
    2.50

    Jérémy Menez

Did not get involved in play enough, though when the winger did get the ball there was always a sense something could happen due to his direct running.

  • Nenê
    2
    1
    2.00

    Nenê

PSG’s most active attacking player, the former Espanyol and Monaco star was vigilantly tracked by the home defence when he was in possession and could not make anything happen for his side.

  • Blaise Matuidi
    2
    1
    3.00

    Blaise Matuidi

Has been on great form lately but on this occasion he seemed to be on his heels a little and was beaten to the ball on several occasions. Popped up crucially at key times by stealing the ball off the toes off Rodriguez as he was about to score twice early in the second half.

  • Clément Chantôme
    2
    1
    2.50

    Clément Chantôme

Normally a steady performer for Carlo Ancelotti’s side, this game bypassed the midfielder to a large extent. He failed to exert any influence on matters but he was full of energy.

  • Marco Verratti
    4
    4
    1.50

Marco Verratti Flop of the Match

Uncharacteristically gave the ball away in the early moments of the game to present a terrific chance to Moutinho. This set the tone for a difficult game for the teenager, whose naivety at this level was exposed for the first time.

  • Zlatan Ibrahimovic
    2
    3
    2.50

    Zlatan Ibrahimovic

The birthday boy missed a fine early chance when he headed a Nene cross wide and then went for a first-time flick when through on goal when he had enough time for a touch or two. Some lovely touches in the middle of the field, but at key times the Swede was not up to his usual standard.

Substitutions

  • Christophe Jallet

    Christophe Jallet

Came on to steady the right-back berth after a poor display from Van der Wiel. Fared a little better than the Dutchman.

  • Javier Pastore

    Javier Pastore

Brought on for Lavezzi, he offered some thrust to PSG late on.

  • Ezequiel Lavezzi

    Ezequiel Lavezzi

Played only a few minutes before being mysteriously withdrawn, possibly due to a re-occurrence of his injury.
