Live Commentary

  • So Bayern may not have quite sealed the title this weekend but they've put on a title worthy display. That's all from me on tonight's memorable action from Munich. Remember to stick around for reaction and ratings from tonight's encounter. Until next time, I've been Harry Slavin, goodbye!
  • On the flip side, that will have left Thorsten Fink with a lot of questions about his side. A really despondent display from his Hamburg side who still have European qualification aspirations this season.
  • FT BAYERN 9-2 HAMBURG. That was the final action of a truly incredible game as Bayern produce their biggest win of the season with a frightening performance at the Allianz Arena. Pizarro will get some of the headlines for his four goals but Robben and Shaqiri were equally as exceptional.
  • 90' + 1'
Kroos almost connects with Muller's cross but once again he can't quite get enough of a connection to force the ball goalwards.
  • 89'
Bayern still want the last say in this fixture and they're looking for a tenth. A short free-kick from Schweinsteiger finds Luis Gustavo who tests Adler from a wide position.
  • 86'
    Assist Rafael van der Vaart
  • 86'
    Goal Heiko Westermann
GOOOAAALLL!!! A SECOND FOR HSV!! Another goal from a corner for the visitors as Heiko Westermann gets up to head home another van der Vaart set-piece.
  • 85'
Raphael van der Vaart has forced Neuer into a couple of saves tonight and he forces the Bayern number one into another decent stop with an effort from outside the area.
  • 82'
Bastian Scweinsteiger is holding his ankle after a clumsy tackle in the middle of the park. He needs to go off for some treatment but he looks as if he's going to be alright.
  • 81'
    SubstitutionMilan Badelj Gojko Kacar
Another sub for the visitors as Milan Badelj makes way for Gojko Kacar.
  • 79'
Another flowing move from the host but for once it doesn't result in a goal. Muller and Pizarro link up and the Chilean waits for the run of Rafinha before laying the ball into his path. The full-back has clear sight of goal but he scuffs his effort straight at a grateful Adler.
  • 76'
    Assist Bastian Schweinsteiger
  • 76'
    Goal Franck Ribéry
GOOOAAALL!!! RIBERY GETS IN ON THE ACT!!! This game just isn't letting up. Ribery finds time and space to curl home from inside the area. The home side are now just two goals away from equaling their record victory.
  • 75'
    Assist Rafael van der Vaart
  • 75'
    Goal Jeffrey Bruma
GOOOAAALLL! HSV HAVE ONE BACK!!! Well I did say number nine was imminent! Hamburg grab one back from the resulting corner, Jeffrey Bruma rising highest to head home Van der Vaart's centre.
  • 74'
van der Vaart goes close at the other end. Neuer has to tip his rasping effort round the post for a corner.
  • 72'
Kroos goes close now as he diverts Ribery's cross just wide of the upright. I think Pizarro got a slight touch which made i more difficult for the midfielder to get decent contact with it. goal number nine looks imminent.
  • 71'
Franck Ribery weaves his way into the area before stinging the legs of Adler with his effort. They're still not finished here Bayern.
  • 68'
    Assist Thomas Müller
  • 68'
    Goal Claudio Pizarro
GOOOOAAALLL!!! PIZARRO HAS ANOTHER!! And have their say they do. Ribery and Muller combine to set up Pizarro. The Frenchman finds his German teammate with a clever through-ball and Muller's cutback from the byline is tapped home by the Chilean.
  • 66'
The main protagonists may be off the park but ther wont be any let up for HSV. Muller and Ribery will be just as hungry to have their say in the action.
  • 65'
    SubstitutionXherdan Shaqiri Franck Ribéry
  • 64'
    SubstitutionArjen Robben Thomas Müller
And that is the last action for the pair as they are replaced to rapturous applause and a deserved standing ovation from the Allianz Arena. Thomas Muller and Franck Ribery take to the pitch in their place.
  • 63'
While all of Bayern's starting XI have been on form tonight, the man of the match award looks like a toss up between Robben, Shaqiri and Pizarro in my eyes. Two of them combine once more to almost add an eighth as Robben find Shaqiri who fizzes an effort over the bar from the edge of the area.
  • 61'
    SubstitutionPhilipp Lahm Rafinha
First change of the night for the hosts as captain Lahm is replaced by Rafinha.
  • 60'
Bayern's biggest ever win in the Bundesliga is 11-1. Can they get near that this evening? I wouldn't put it past them at this rate.
  • 57'
    SubstitutionT. Rincón Slobodan Rajkovic
  • 57'
    SubstitutionHeung-Min Son Tolgay Ali Arslan
Fink reacts to the two quickfire goals by bringing off HSV's main attacking threat and making a double substitution. This has been a truly miserable afternoon for his side and it's by no means over yet.
  • 54'
    Assist Claudio Pizarro
  • 54'
    Goal Arjen Robben
GOOAAAALLLL!!!! TWO IN LESS THAN 60 SECONDS!!! This is getting ridiculous. More suicide defending from the visitors as Pizarro dispossesses Diekmeier on the edge of the area immediately after the restart and he finds Robben who dispatches an impudent chip beyond Adler.
  • 53'
    Assist Arjen Robben
  • 53'
    Goal Claudio Pizarro
GOOAAALLL!!! PIZARRO HAS HIS HAT-TRICK!!! Relentless from the hosts. Robben goes on trademark surging run into the area and his low cross is cheekily back-heeled home by Pizarro for his third of the evening.
  • 52'
Xerdan Shaqiri bends an effort just wide from outsdie the area. Shaqiri has looked dangerous all game, but then again so have most of the Bayern line-up.
  • 50'
There have already been a couple of nervy moments for the HSV defence inside the opening five minutes of the half. Robben and Lahm have both swung in crosses that have caused a bit of panic with Pizarro making a nuisance of himself. No concrete chances as yet though
  • 47'
First effort of the half and it's from Hamburg would you believe! Son gets in a shot nut Neuer has it covered and bats down the forward's stinging effort before collecting at the second attempt.
  • 46'
Hamburg restart, with a few home truths from Fink still ringing in their ears no doubt.
  • Both teams have emerged and HSV are about to get us back underway. Will we see just as much goalmouth action in the second half? I sure hope so.
  • You can get 500/1 with some bookmakers for the draw through in-play markets. I'm sure you can probably get even better odds with others. Is anyone brave enough to stick on a couple of quid? Stupid enough is probably the more fitting definition.
  • Incredible scenes then from the first half in Munich. What do you say if you're Thorsten Fink? Do you let your players have it in the changing room? To say their opening half exploits were abject would be an understatement. I'm sure Heynckes' halftime team-talk will be a little easier.
  • This isn't the first time this season Bayern have torn through their opponents in the opening forty-five. Lille shipped five first half goals in their Champions League Group match back in November.
  • HALFTIME: BAYERN 5-0 HAMBURG. Nobody expected Hamburg to have any real shot of getting anything from today's fixture. But nobody expected them to rollover in quite so spectacular a fashion. Bayern have been irresistible but their opponents have been invisible. Literally in the case of some of their defending this evening. It's going to be a long second half for Thorsten Fink's men.
  • 45'
    Goal Claudio Pizarro
GOOOAAALL!!! FIVE. Five goals for Bayern and it's not even half time. Gustavo has far too much time on the left flank and he find Shaqiri who has even more space inside the box. He turns and smacks an effort off the post but Pizarro is on hand to put home the rebound.
  • 44'
It should be five. Kroos breaks clear down the left and slows down to tee up Schweinsteiger. He passes up the opportunity to shoot and lays it off to Robben but the winger fires wide of Adler's goal. It is literally all Bayern.
  • 42'
The scoreline doesn't flatter the home side in the slightest. The most worrying thing is I don't even think they're anywhere near top gear. Hamburg meanwhile have been lucky to score nil.
  • 39'
Jupp Heynckes side have put six past opponents on three separate occasions this season in all competitions. This match looks to be heading the same way.
  • 37'
Xerdan Shaqiri is put through and he races into the box to face Alder one-on-one. The Swiss star tries a cheeky lob from an acute angle but the German stopper stands tall and pluck the effort out of the Munich sky.
  • 35'
Hamburg have put in some quality performances on the road so far this season. This is not one of them. This is a miles away from the sort of performance that saw this side beat Dortmund at the Signal Iduna Park earlier this season.
  • 33'
    Assist Claudio Pizarro
  • 33'
    Goal Arjen Robben
GOOOAALLL!! ROBBEN'S TURN TO FIND THE NET!!!! This is a well worked goal. Robben plays a neat one-two with Pizarro who back-heels the return into the Dutchman's path before he sorts his feet and places the ball low beyond the reach of Adler from inside the area.
  • 30'
    Assist Javi Martínez
  • 30'
    Goal Claudio Pizarro
GOOAALL!!! PIZARRO ADDS A THIRD!!! Almost identical circumstances to the last goal. Adler looks like he has got his defence out of jail with a great save at the feet of Robben but the visitors switch off at the set piece once more and a front post flick-on is met by Claudio Pizarro at the back post who crashes home.
  • 29'
They really have made it look easy this season Bayern. HSV have barely been able to create chance so far. This time Rudnevs has a shot blocked after decent link up play with Son.
  • 27'
On closer inspection Pizarro does have a case. There is defintely contact from Westermann. Although his theatrical fall probably didn't help his cause too much.
  • 25'
Claudio Pizarro is in the wars again as he goes down in the penalty area under a challenge from Westermann. The ball was getting away from him however and there's nothing doing.
  • 23'
Another clumsy tackle from a Hmaburg player as this time Raphael van der Vaart almost goes over the top of the ball on Pizarro. Just a free-kick given again by referee Winkmann.
  • 21'
Claudio Pizarro gets his first sight of goal this evening but he flashes his effort across the face of Adler's goal. Bayern are rampant now.
  • 19'
    Assist Xherdan Shaqiri
  • 19'
    Goal Bastian Schweinsteiger
GOOOAAALL!!! 2-0 INSIDE 20 MINUTES FOR DIE ROTEN!! This a poor goal from a Hamburg point of view. Dennis Diekmeier does really well to prevent Robben from tapping in a second goal but his side switches off and a quick corner sees Bastian Scweinsteiger rise unchallenged to meet Shaqiri's cross and nod his side even further into the lead.
  • 17'
Heung-Min Son forces Manuel Neuer into his first meaningful action of the half as the striker uses his pace to create a bit of space for a turn and shot which the German keeper gets down to comfortably.
  • 15'
A tackle comes in from Tomas Rincon on the touchline and a free-kick is given. The Hamburg midfielder definitely has both feet off the ground and isn't far away from catching his opponent. No card is forthcoming though.
  • 13'
HSV are trying to recompose themselves after a fairly disastrous opening 10 minutes. A number of passes are being flung across their own half but they need to start coming forward with the ball.
  • 10'
It's never proved the smartest tactic to go behind to Jupp Heynckes' side early doors. Can Hamburg find a way back into this fixture?
  • 7'
It's almost two before HSV even have time to regroup! A cross is headed golawards by Kroos and Rene Adler has to be sharp to pull of a smart reaction stop before getting fouled by Arjen Robben.
  • 5'
    Assist Toni Kroos
  • 5'
    Goal Xherdan Shaqiri
GOOOAAAALLLL!! BAYERN STRIKE FIRST!!! Well I think it's safe to say that the hosts are still out to do a job. Xerdan Shaqiri takes a pass from Kroos in the HSV half before unleashing a rasping drive low into the bottom corner.
  • 3'
A fairly tame opening few minutes as both sides attempt to string a few passes together. This game was built as a party for Bayern. Let's hope that the fact their is no prospect of claiming the Championship this evening hasn't had an adverse affect on proceedings.
  • 1'
Bayern start proceedings clad in their traditional full red kit. Hamburg are in their change kit of all navy.
  • The teams are greeted by a wall of noise as they emerge. Referee Guido Winkmann oversees the coin toss and we are moments away seconds away from getting things underway.
  • Van Buyten and van der Vaart share a quick word as the teams wait in the tunnel. The giant defender starts on the bench for the home side this evening.
  • The title party may be on hold for another week but there is still a buzz around the Allianz Arena as we wait for kick-off. I suppose in reality the title has been Bayern's for a while now.
  • No Mario's in the starting frontline for the hosts tonight. Mandzukic starts on the bench while Gomez misses out altogether after failing to shake off an injury that saw him miss both of Germany's recent World Cup Qualifiers.
  • HAMBURG: (4-5-1) Adler; Diekmeier, Bruma, Westermann, Aogo; Skjelbred, Rincon, Badelj, van der Vaart, Son; Rudnevs.
  • BAYERN:(4-2-3-1) Neuer; Lahm, Boateng, Dante, Gustavo; Martínez, Schweinsteiger; Robben, Kroos, Shaqiri; Pizarro.
  • We have around 10 minutes until kick-off so let's get some team news before the teams emerge.
  • Jupp Heynckes side could have finally secured their Bundesliga Championship this evening, but Robert Lewandowski's late winner for Borussia Dortmund against Stuttgart ensures that Die Roten will have to wait at least another week to pop open the champagne.
  • Good evening and welcome to's live coverage of the Bundesliga clash between runaway league leaders Bayern Munich and Hamburg. I'm Harry Slavin and I'll be bringing you all the action from the Allianz Arena as the hosts look to take another step towards wrapping up the title.
