    Maarten Stekelenburg

The Netherlands goalkeeper slammed the turf in anger after being beaten through his legs for the Denmark goal. Made some sharp saves to prevent the Danes increasing their lead.

  • Gregory van der Wiel

    Gregory van der Wiel

The Ajax man was comfortable for most of the game but looked uncomfortable when Krohn-Dehli ran at him. Barely crossed the halfway line and perhaps could have offered more in attack.

  • John Heitinga

John Heitinga Flop of the Match

The Everton central defender made a half-hearted attempt to stop Krohn-Dehli and was punished as the Denmark attacker slotted home the opener in the 24th minute. Played some dangerous long passes but looked flat-footed when the Danes went forward.

  • Ron Vlaar

    Ron Vlaar

Solid display from the centre-back as he denied Bendtner space and took up alert defensive positions.

  • Jetro Willems

    Jetro Willems

The 18-year-old became the youngest ever player in a European Championship, but he didn't look out of place. First involvement was a confident shot from 30 yards and he was solid throughout defensively.

  • Mark van Bommel

    2.50

    Mark van Bommel

The Dutch captain sat in midfield as a screen for the back four. Tidy on the ball but lacked creativity as his side dominated possession. Booked for rash late challenge on Zimling in the second-half.

  • Nigel De Jong

    Nigel De Jong

Similar to van Bommel in that he did his job but was not overly tested by a Denmark side happy to sit back and defend. Replaced by Van der Vaart in the 71st minute as the Dutch went in search of a goal.

  • Wesley Sneijder

    Wesley Sneijder

The playmaker showed his class with some wonderful passes for Van Persie and then Huntelaar and always tried to make something happen. Took up good attacking positions but shooting was wayward from around the edge of the box.

  • Arjen Robben

    2.50

    Arjen Robben

Hugged the touchline and constantly looked to run at the Danish defence. Hit the post in the first-half but often made the wrong decisions in the final third after getting into dangerous areas.

  • Ibrahim Afellay

    Ibrahim Afellay

Nominally played on the left side but came to life when he drifted infield. Shot over the bar in the first-half before being replaced by Huntelaar in the 71st minute.

  • Robin van Persie

    Robin van Persie

A night to forget for the Arsenal captain. Good link-up play and classy outside the penalty area, but his finishing was poor as he missed a string of good chances. Worst offence was poor first touch that allowed Andersen to smother while an airkick in the second-half summed up his game.

The Tottenham midfield came on for De Jong in the 71st minute but had little influence on the game.

  • Dirk Kuyt

    Dirk Kuyt

Replaced Van der Wiel late on. Not enough time to make an impact.

  • Klaas-Jan Huntelaar

    Klaas-Jan Huntelaar

Replaced Afellay in the 71st minute and lurked on the shoulder of the last man. Had a superb chance to score after latching on to a wonderful Sneijder pass, but saw his effort saved by Andersen.

  • Stephan Andersen

    3.00

    Stephan Andersen

Made some strong saves to keep Denmark in the game, particularly in denying Van Persie when one-on-one in the first-half. Lucky not to be punished for sloppy clearance that went straight to Robben.

  • Simon Kjaer

    Simon Kjaer

The Roma centre-back looked shaky earlier on but grew in authority, providing a firm base for an excellent defensive display, particularly in the second-half. Constantly made good decisions and was often a step ahead of the Dutch forwards.

  • Daniel Agger

    Daniel Agger

The Denmark captain sometimes allowed Van Persie to pull off his shoulder but his anticipation was vital as he made important interceptions and organised the back four.

  • Simon Busk Poulsen

    Simon Busk Poulsen

The left-back had a difficult time against Robben and was often beaten by the winger's pace and skill - but was not punished.

  • Lars Jacobsen

    3.00

    Lars Jacobsen

Had to stay alert to the movement of the Netherlands' attacking quartet and did well. Sometimes gambled by allowing Afellay to roam inside but know his role.

  • William Kvist Jörgensen

    William Kvist Jörgensen

Played an important role sitting in midfield. Got caught ball-watching at times but made a nuisance of himself when Dutch players got between the lines.

  • Christian Eriksen

    2.50

    Christian Eriksen

The Ajax star's influence grew as the game went on, offering calmness on the ball on the rare occasions that Denmark had a spell of possession. Picked out some incisive passes to runners in wide areas.

  • Niki Zimling

    2.50

    Niki Zimling

Worked tirelessly to press the Netherlands midfield and deny their creative players time on the ball. Passing was simple and efficient.

  • Michael Krohn-Dehli

Michael Krohn-Dehli Top of the Match

Sparked into life after a quiet start as he scored the winner in the 24th minute, dropping a shoulder to burst past Heitinga before producing a classy finish through Stekelenberg's legs. Continued to drift in and out of the game thereafter but was always a threat, testing Stekelenberg with a powerful shot.

  • Dennis Rommedahl

    4
    2.00

    Dennis Rommedahl

The experienced winger had very little involvement in the game. Worked hard on the right flank but never had a chance to run at Willems.

  • Nicklas Bendtner
    11
    2
    3.00

    Nicklas Bendtner

For a man with so much arrogance, performed a very selfless role as the focal point of the attack. Kept chasing lost causing despite never really getting a sight on the Denmark goal.

Replaced Rommedahl six minutes from time.
