  The Everton central defender made a half-hearted attempt to stop Krohn-Dehli and was punished as the Denmark attacker slotted home the opener in the 24th minute. Played some dangerous long passes but looked flat-footed when the Danes went forward.

  The Dutch captain sat in midfield as a screen for the back four. Tidy on the ball but lacked creativity as his side dominated possession. Booked for rash late challenge on Zimling in the second-half.

  Similar to van Bommel in that he did his job but was not overly tested by a Denmark side happy to sit back and defend. Replaced by Van der Vaart in the 71st minute as the Dutch went in search of a goal.

  The playmaker showed his class with some wonderful passes for Van Persie and then Huntelaar and always tried to make something happen. Took up good attacking positions but shooting was wayward from around the edge of the box.

  A night to forget for the Arsenal captain. Good link-up play and classy outside the penalty area, but his finishing was poor as he missed a string of good chances. Worst offence was poor first touch that allowed Andersen to smother while an airkick in the second-half summed up his game.

  Sparked into life after a quiet start as he scored the winner in the 24th minute, dropping a shoulder to burst past Heitinga before producing a classy finish through Stekelenberg's legs. Continued to drift in and out of the game thereafter but was always a threat, testing Stekelenberg with a powerful shot.
