Top 10 Africans to play in Europe
ABEDI AYEW - Ghana
The Ghanaian was a pioneer of the African exodus to the Old Continent that burgeoned in the early nineties. Ayew featured for his fair share of European clubs, yet it was during his [second] spell with French giants Olympique Marseille that he earned his greatest renown. In three years at the Stade Velodrome, Ayew won a hat-trick of league titles (the third being infamously revoked later), played in two European Cup finals, the last of which - incidentally the inaugural edition of the re-branded competition - saw him put in a match-winning performance, providing the assist for Basile Boli’s clincher against AC Milan.
