Ghana’s quintet in the Uefa Champions League
1. CHRISTIAN ATSU TWASAM
The 20-year-old Black Stars new-boy has been quite a revelation for both club and country in 2012, earning rave reviews for his sparkling 'Messi-esque' displays. At Porto, he has finally broke into the first team and even claimed playing time in Europe's elite club competition. To be sure, he has not enjoyed any more than some 90-plus minutes of European football, yet that statistic belies his actual worth to the side, considering that tally has been spread quite evenly across the six matches 'O Dragao' played during the group stages. On his debut, Atsu even came on to great effect, setting up one of Porto's two goals in the opening game against Croatia's Dinamo Zagreb during a cameo that lasted all of 18 minutes. Granted, his lack of experience would mean he cannot expect to play a truly significant role at this stage where the competition heats up, yet his coaches and fans would expect that the promising Ada Foah native would man up and prove himself ready to chip in his bit when called on at any point in Porto's double-legged tie versus Spanish upstarts Malaga.
