Wa All Stars defeated Great Olympics 1-0 in Ghana Premier League matchday 10 outstanding game at the Malik Jabir Park.
The hosts returned to Wa following their 1-0 defeat to Berekum Chelsea last weekend and made sure their visitors were unsettled within the opening 15 minutes.
Paul Asare and Richard Arthur had opportunities to open the scoring but they failed to find the target. Great Olympics defender Joseph Nii Odartey was booked by the 31st minute after a rush tackle on Kwaku Asuandzie when the striker set up Arthur deep in the visitor’s area.
However, on 40th minute, Asare found a breach in the visitors’ defence after connecting a teammate's pass and he sent his effort past the Olympics goalkeeper.
The visitors returned from the break in high spirit, causing trouble for the hosts' backline but failed to beat goalkeeper Richard Ofori.
Olympics made double substitutions in their setup on 63rd minute in search of the equaliser. Francis Atsu came on for Francis Okai Attuquaye while Joseph Nii Ordartey replaced Englebert Gray but their presence didn't yield positive results.
The hosts held on to their lead to pick yet another vital win at home.
All Stars have now moved two places up to sixth position, tied with Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko, who sit fourth and fifth respectively with 20 points.
All Stars will host FA Cup title holders Bechem United when the league resumes on May 4 while Great Olympics play Kotoko in their first home game under Tom Strand, who took over from Godwin Attram a fortnight ago.
