Virat Kohli wishes India's U17 squad best of luck for the Under-17 World Cup

India cricket team skipper Virat Kohli took to Twitter to wish the country’s U-17 football squad best of luck for the upcoming FIFA Under-17World Cup.

In a short video message posted on his official Twitter handle, the India captain said, “Our Under-17 boys are taking part in the FIFA U-17 World Cup which starts on October 6.”

“Their first match is against Team USA. I would like to wish them all the very best for the first game and the rest of the tournament. Go get it boys, make us proud.”

The Indian U-17 football team, led by Portuguese coach Luis Norton de Matos, have been drawn with USA, Ghana and Colombia in group A for the 24-team event starting on October 6.

Kohli is known to be a keen follower of the support and is the co-owner and brand ambassador of Indian Super League (ISL) side FC Goa.

The 28-year-old had also specially donned the jersey of his ISL club for his video message for Norton’s squad.

The excitement and anticipation for the country’s first ever FIFA World Cup appearance continues to gather momentum with just three days left for kick-off at the Jawahar Lal Nehru stadium in New Delhi.

This is the first time ever that a FIFA tournament has been organized in India and it could set to be just  the start with AIFF President Praful Patel recently confirming an official bid to host the Under-20 World Cup in 2019.

Team India will play all three of their group-stage matches in New Delhi with its final engagement coming on October 12 against Ghana.

The top two teams from the six groups will progress to the Round of 16 with four of the best third-placed nations joining them in the fray.
