RUMOURS: Everton to reject loan offers for McCarthy

The Irish midfielder could be on his way out of Goodison Park for good, with the Toffees not keen on temporary deals

Everton are expected to reject loan bids for James McCarthy, with the club only willing to consider permanent offers, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The Republic of Ireland international has been linked with a temporary move to Championship clubs Aston Villa and Newcastle United after falling down the pecking order at Goodison Park.

McCarthy's season has been disrupted by ongoing injury issues and the 26-year-old has made just seven league appearances for the Toffees.

Should he opt to stay at the club, the former Wigan Athletic star faces stiff competition for a place in the Blues' midfield with Idrissa Gueye, Gareth Barry and Tom Cleverly preferred by Koeman.
