Man Utd target Perisic will not be pressured into Inter stay by Spalletti

New Inter coach Luciano Spalletti will not block Ivan Perisic from joining Manchester United if the winger wants to leave.

The Croatia international is reported to be a top summer transfer target for the Red Devils, as Jose Mourinho seeks to bring added dynamism and creativity into Old Trafford.

Inter are understandably reluctant to part with their prized assets and will hold out for the best possible price.

They will, however, not stand in the way of any player who makes it clear that they are no longer committed to the cause and wish to take on a new challenge elsewhere.

Spalletti told reporters on the Perisic rumours: “We shouldn’t convince anyone to stay at Inter.

“I am already convincing others to join Inter and that is the most we can aspire to do.

“If someone is not convinced, he is good to go and play where he feels more motivated.”

Inter are said to be holding out for around €50 million for Perisic.

They snapped him up from Wolfsburg in 2015 for just €16 million, but handed the 28-year-old a five-year contract and intend to be handsomely compensated if that agreement is broken.

Zlatan already has boots back on

United are expected to be busy when the window opens, with Perisic just one of several options reported to figure prominently on Mourinho’s radar.

He already has the likes of Juan Mata, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford on his books, but further firepower in the attacking third is being sought – with the Red Devils also in the market for proven strikers after opting against extending Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s stay at the club.
