Mali’s Abdoulay Diaby scores as Club Brugge edge Kortrijk

Abdoulay Diaby scored his second league goal as Club Brugge edged Kortrijk 2-1 in a Belgain topflight league fixture.

Jelle Vossen converted from the penalty spot to hand the Ivan Leko’s men the lead 11 minutes into the game before the Eagles forward doubled Club Brugge’s lead four minutes after the restart.

Jovan Stojanović tried to help Kortrijk back into the game with a 68th minute goal but Diaby’s early strike in the second half was enough to seal maximum points for the Blue-Black.

Nigeria’s Dennis Bonaventure was not listed in the roaster for Club Brugge as they moved to the third spot in the Belgian First Division A with nine points from three games.

Club Brugge visit AEK Athens for the return fixture of the Uefa Europa League qualification on Thursday before welcoming Standard Liege to the Jan Breydel Stadium on August 27.
