Mali starlet Adama Traore opens Rio Ave account

Mali midfielder Adama Traore opened his account for new side Rio Ave whom he joined on loan from Ligue 1 giants Monaco during the January transfer window.

The 21-year wasted no time in making an impact at the Vila do Conde outfit, netting the decisive goal in only his third appearance from the bench in the 1-0 win away from home at Boavista in a Primeira Liga match played on Saturday at Estadio do Bessa.

Two minutes after coming on, Traore fired Rio Ave into the lead. The Monaco loanee headed in Filip Krovinovic's corner in the 76th minute and his effort proved to be the decisive goal as Rio Grande hung on to secure three crucial points in their bid for European football.

At Monaco, Traore struggled to earn regular game time and had only managed 13 appearances in two seasons at the club prior to his departure.

This was Traore’s first goal since 21 October 2016 when he got among the goals in Monaco’s 6-2 thrashing of Montpellier.
