Game abandoned as Leyton Orient fans invade pitch to protest

Leyton Orient fans forced their game against Colchester to be abandoned when they invaded the pitch to protest against the club's owners.

Sitting bottom of the table as they lined up for their last home game of the season, the club have already been relegated from the bottom of the England's fourth tier - dropping out of the Football League (EFL) for the first time in 112 years. 

As well as new sporting lows, Orient failed to pay their staff's wages on time in March and the EFL has yet to receive a response to a letter sent questioning the club on the situation.

The O's fans have long expressed their anger towards owner Francesco Becchetti and took to the field to interrupt Saturday's game.

As they sat 3-1 down with five minutes remaining, hundreds of fans took to the field and stood in front of the director's box, and led chants telling Becchetti to "f**k off, Orient is ours".

Stewards attempted to usher fans off the pitch as the game came to a stop for over an hour. The fans refused to budge, though, even having a sit-in protest before the decision was made to abandon the game altogether.
