Bechem United coach Mensah blames strikers for Kotoko defeat

Bechem United coach Bismark Mensah has reiterated his side's sluggishness in front of goal after a 1-0 defeat to Asante Kotoko in the Ghana Premier League on Sunday.

A late strike by Emmanuel Gyamfi was all the Porcupine Warriors needed to end their winless streak.

However, the visitors coach believes the outcome could've been different if his strikers had made good use of their chances.

"We did very well against Asante Kotoko but it was unfortunate that one mistake handed them the opportunity to carry the day," Mensah said.

"I believe we could've at least salvaged a point or better still win the game if we finished the few opportunities we had. We didn't deserve to lose this game but I'll take it in good faith and continue to work on my players so that we can have an improved performance in our away games in the second round," he added.

Mensah also insisted that Kotoko goalkeeper Felix Annan who was adjudged as the Man of the Match was undeserving since he was not exceptional in the game.

"Felix Annan didn't deserve the man of the match award. There were several Kotoko players who deserved it or even my goalkeeper [Prince Asempah] who made several saves before he conceded," he said.

"We have to be serious about some of these things in the league because it is a way to motivate players so the right people must be awarded. He doesn't deserve it on any day."
