Match Preview

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic Lazio 2017-18

There are plenty of reasons to be cheerful around the Emirates Stadium, as Unai Emery has made an encouraging start to life at Arsenal.

New signings Bernd Leno, Matteo Guendouzi and Sokratis have slotted straight into the system, while there is a lot of buzz over young Uruguay star Torreira. That mix of new faces and established stars has seen Arsenal negotiate their pre-season campaign unbeaten so far, with a 5-1 thrashing of Paris Saint-Germain the highlight.

It is still early in Emery's tenure, but overall signs are positive, with a dynamic, attacking team promising to be one of the sides to watch in 2018-19.

Lazio, meanwhile, have been forced to watch from afar as their biggest Italian rivals have spent big over the summer.

While the likes of Juventus, Inter and AC Milan have all been active in the transfer market the Romans have been net sellers, losing several key first-teamers.

And their woes may not yet be over, as midfield general Sergej Milinkovic-Savic continues to attract attention from across Europe.

Having lost out on a Champions League place in such agonising fashion last season, going one better in the upcoming Serie A term certainly looks a tall order for the side coached by Simone Inzaghi.
