Ghana international David Accam emerged hero of the day as his goal in the fifth minute of stoppage time earned Philadelphia Union a 4-3 away win over his former side Chicago Fire in Major League Soccer on Thursday.
The strike was not just a fine solo effort, but also a precursor of rash folly as Accam dashed on a celebratory run, removing his shirt and crashing it against the ground, before realising he was doing it against his former side, and then raised both hands in the regular 'no celebration' manner.
It was the Black Stars' first league goal for Jim Curtin's outfit this season, having played 17 matches involving 10 starts since transferring from Fire in February.
Union were the first to open the scoring through Haris Medunjanin in the 31st minute.
Nemanja Nikolic hit back for Fire eight minutes later, converting from the spot.
Cory Burke then restored Union's lead on the stroke of half-time, before Aleksandar Katai restored parity again for the Men in Red.
In the 73rd minute, Burke scored what looked like the match winner but Bastian Schweinsteiger drew level one more time for Fire in the fourth minute of injury time.
Then substitute Accam produced a moment of magic just a minute later.
The 27-year-old drove through two Fire men, made his way into the box, before shooting beyond goalkeeper Richard Sanchez to win it all for Union.
In three seasons with Fire, Accam enjoyed legendary status as he won back-to-back Players of the Season and Top Scorer awards in his first two terms.
