The goalkeeper who plies his trade in Ghana’s top flight league says he won’t be at post against the Black StarsBurkina Faso goalkeeper Abdoulaye Soulama is ruling out a possibility of manning the post for the Stallions as they face Ghana in the semi-final of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
Soulama is the first-choice goalkeeper of Ghana Premier League defending champions Asante Kotoko and he believes that could influence coach Paul Put’s decision to bench him.
“I don’t think the coach will give me that chance to play because of my link with Ghana,” the shot-stopper told Kumasi-based Fox FM. “Even if we were playing against Ghana in the final, he would not allow me to play.”
“He even called me after training and told me that I am in good form, but he wants to see what the other goalkeeper [Diakite] will do for us.”
The Porcupine Warriors last line of defence opined he would have wished the two west African countries clashed in the final.
“I don’t even like the fact that we are playing Ghana in the semi-final. I would have wanted to meet Ghana in the final, but we clash tomorrow instead.”
