The national team coach praised his charges but was quick to add that there is more room for improvement before their next game
Appiah’s men advanced to the semi-final of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations with a 2-0 win over debutants Cape Verde on Saturday in a tensed game at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth.
Midfieder Mubarak Wakaso came from the bench to ensure the Black Stars make another step into ending a 31-year wait for the continental trophy.
The calm talking Black Stars coach said he is pleased with his side's outing but hoping to step up their game in the semi-final clash with either Togo or Burkina Faso.
“The first half was okay," he said in a post-match interview. "We were playing well until when we scored that some deficiencies set into our midfield. The mental attitude of the players was good. Cape Verde dominated the second half, but we stood up and got the win in the end.”
